About Blackwater Mine: 

Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline. 

About the Role 

Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, the role will work within a small team and are responsible for supporting leaders with core people processes, culture and engagement, and general HR activities for Blackwater mine site.

 

Key activities in this role include site-based coaching and development initiatives, supporting change management, workforce optimisation, facilitating culture and engagement initiatives, and managing IR, ER and performance matters.

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Providing expert advice and coaching to managers on performance and conduct matters.
  • Guiding leaders with interpretation of the enterprise agreement and legislation
  • Employee onboarding
  • Assisting to develop HR procedures, systems, templates and reporting
  • A focus on continuous improvement
  • Leading HR project activities

 

What You’ll Bring 

    • Tertiary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or similar
    • 3-5 years minimum Human Resource generalist/Business Partnering experience
    • Proven experience working in a heavy industry environment
    • Experience supporting leaders with workplace investigations
    • Exceptional communication skills.
    • High levels of organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
