The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is a not for profit, membership-based organisation leading the way in surgical performance, professionalism and patient care in Australia and New Zealand.

With service to our members at the forefront of our business, we support ongoing learning and development for our surgical workforce of more than 7,000 surgeons and 1,300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.

About the role


In this role you will provide high-level executive and advocacy support to the RACS QLD Chair and Committee, ensuring actions and committees are appropriately supported. 

Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide secretariat support to the ACT State Committees, including preparing meeting agendas and documents, minutes and ensuring actions are completed.
  • Attend and/or participate and collaborate in internal/external meetings and other as required.
  • Prepare relevant reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Head of States & Territories to successfully implement the Strategic and Business plans of the College and ACT Committee
  • Provide a high level of customer service to our Fellows, Trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG’s), answer member and other enquiries, resolve matters where possible or refer onto other staff.

This role is part time 0.4 FTE (15 hours per week) and after hours work will be a requirement of this position. 

Skills and experience  

  • Experience in supporting committees, including drafting of agenda and minute taking.
  • Experience working with government / member-based organisation / or not for profit.
  • High level of verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
  • Ability to research and analyse information, effectively problem solve and offer sound advice within the scope of service.
