Salary: $89,509 - $98,472 per annum, plus 11% superannuation

We are currently seeking a dynamic Museum Officer to join the La Perouse Museum at an exciting time in its development.

 

Purpose:

The Museum Officer plays a central role in the operations and services of the La Perouse Museum. It supports the Head La Perouse Museum, collaborates with the Aboriginal Cultural Engagement Officer and develops, coordinates, and delivers programs, projects, collections care, education, daily operations, and administration of the La Perouse Museum and Headland. The role coordinates Front of House activities, manages casual staff, and is responsible for the Museums Volunteer Program.

You will promote strong partnerships and effectively maintain existing stakeholder relationships, including the development and delivery of educational outcomes and programs. You will also be responsible for content development including Museum interpretation strategies across a range of media for diverse audiences, managing the collection, exhibition development, working with volunteers, and the daily operation and administration of the Museum for the benefit of the public. 

 

About the role: 

  • The role is responsible for coordinating and delivering a wide range of complex Museum programming including exhibition development, exhibition registration, and public programming.
  • The Museum Officer plays a vital role in the Museum's public communications, including the development of promotional material, online content, and Museum interpretation.
  • The role oversees the Museum's Front of House initiatives and plays a critical role to ensure the Museum environment allows for a high-quality customer experience. 

About you:

  • You possess tertiary qualifications in curatorship, history, museum studies, related discipline, or hold the equivalent experience.
  • You have demonstrated experience working in cultural facilities and have a good understanding of Museum practice working with tangible cultural heritage. 
  • You have experience developing and delivering innovative public programs or exhibitions and an understanding of Museum visitors and their diverse needs.
