About the Role

This is a fantastic rewarding opportunity to join our Quality Risk and Compliance team in a specialised position focused on building the internal audit function, to support SSI Group’s audit, quality, risk and compliance activities. 

Reporting to the Head of Quality, Risk and Compliance, this is a newly created permanent position where you will be coordinating the internal financial audit function to support good governance and optimise SSI’s operational performance, planning, management and decision-making.

As a key member of the team, your role will be to provide independent and objective assessment of key business processes, evaluating the effectiveness of financial controls, risk management systems and operational processes.

The location for this position is flexible and we are open to applicants from Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland as we have offices in these locations. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the end-to-end management of the internal financial audit and assurance process, including conducting internal audits.
  • Providing management with accurate and timely reports on the effectiveness of financial management and reporting systems
  • Giving independent and objective assessments of the organisation’s operational processes and internal controls.
  • Assessing SSI’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including jurisdictional obligations
  • Assessing the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Contributing to the development of new policies and procedures and providing recommendations to ensure that they are adhered to.

 

About You

The successful incumbent will have a strong background in internal auditing as well as sound financial knowledge, with the expertise to guide and influence best practice within the internal audit space. 

This role would suit an individual with a curious mind, someone who is adaptable to the ever-changing complex environment of an NFP organisation. Experience in conducting internal audits, preferably in a community sector or not for profit setting is highly advantageous.

Essential Criteria

  • At least 2+ years of experience in Internal Auditing, coupled with appropriate tertiary qualifications.
  • Membership, or eligibility for membership, to the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia; CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia
  • High level of communication including strong oral & written skills.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, including data analysis and strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of organisational operating activities, financial systems, controls and audit techniques
