About the role:

The Business Engagement lead serves as the primary liaison or bridge between the Medical Indemnity business units, Technology, Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) and other business units within the organisation.

This bridge depends on strong two-way communication, the Business Engagement Lead will be accountable for:

  • Seeking to understand the business needs and represent these accurately by translating them into process or technology requirements. This includes providing feedback to the business on any technical information/decisions, direction, time lines and impacts. When appropriate, they will act as Product Owners in projects, agile scrums, prioritisation discussions, system decisions and other forums.
  • Working within the business units, assisting leaders to identify and analyse pain points and address improvement opportunities. The role will directly support the implementation of small business improvements or advocate for a larger scale project to address the business need. They must be able to analyse data and assess the cost-benefit of the proposed change.
  • Partnering with MI Change and Communications to assess impacts, training needs and sequence change delivery of group or local initiatives for effective delivery of solutions that drive value and support strategic goals. This role may independently manage implementation of small-scale change and must collaborate with a range of specialists to deliver a quality outcome.
  • Contributing to a maturing continuous improvement framework across MI. This includes developing roadmaps that include process, system and compliance improvements.

Key Responsibilities are:

 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across business units to understand their objectives, priorities, and challenges.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in how the MI business units operate and serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing guidance on how technology can address their needs and drive process innovation.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for technology-enabled business transformation and process improvements
  • Gather and analyse business requirements, translating them into clear and actionable technology requirements & User Stories.
  • Develop business roadmaps, drive improvement initiatives into the pipeline and actively contribute to prioritisation discussions
  • Partner with Change & Communications to sequence, prioritise, respond and implement changes that impact your area of business responsibility. Actively contribute to the testing and business verification activities to ensure conformance to business requirements and the ability to operate the product.
  • Work closely with Technology teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between all business stakeholders, technology and various group project teams or business initiatives delivering improvements into the business unit.
  • Manage expectations, communicate initiative status, and resolve issues or conflicts that may arise between business and technology teams.
  • Support incident management. Minimise key person risk by actively sharing/documenting process information and advocate risk management and compliance in decision making 
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to business engagement and technology innovation.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of technology and process solutions in meeting business objectives, gathering feedback and making recommendations for continuous improvement. 

Key skills and experience required:

  • Ideally you’ll have experience working in a business engagement capacity – Business Analyst, Project, Change or similar Delivery role with a strong understanding of business process and technology solutions.
  • Energetic and engaging communication style with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Results focused. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Change management exposure, with the ability to drive organizational change and adoption of new technologies.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service and value to internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, applications and agile rituals, with the ability to understand technical concepts and effectively communicate them to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving business priorities and technology landscapes.
