About the role
The Young Parents Program (YPP) takes a strengths-based early intervention approach, building the capacity of young parents to live independently in appropriate housing, develop parenting and life skills to ensure best outcomes for their children.
In this position you will support the children (aged 0-7yrs) of young parents with complex needs (aged 13-24yrs) to support child development, parenting skills, and community connection to ensure best outcomes. Working closely alongside the young parent’s Case Manager, the child focused Case Manager ensures children engaged with YPP have the support required to thrive, and young families develop the skills required to parent and live independently.
What you will bring
- A Degree or Diploma in Social Work or Social and Community Services/Welfare with a minimum of 2 years experience; or other relevant qualifications, skills and experience that demonstrate equivalence to this standard
- Sound casework/case management experience including holistic assessment of client needs and development of case plans
- Understanding of child and adolescent development and best practice working with young women and men with complex needs and behaviours and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing young parents (aged 13-24) and their children
- Demonstrated understanding of child development, parent craft, health care needs of babies/children and best practice in parenting newborns, toddlers, and younger children.
- Experience in working with people in the community who have complex needs and experiences
- Experience in working competently with staff and clients from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect and humility
- Experience in working respectfully and competently with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Working with children check
- Australian Drivers licence

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $85,145.84 (pro rata $50,236.04) + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
