About the role

 

Reporting to the Executive Director – State & Territory Operations, the Director is accountable for leading Australian Red Cross operations across Tasmania. As a member of the Divisions Senior Leadership team, they are responsible for the delivery of Strategy outcomes, local program delivery, ensuring financial sustainability, providing leadership, achieving a positive culture and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy.

 

The Director is also accountable for the delivery of a Sub-Strategy or Strategic Priority across the organisation or division, this may include leading an Australian-wide team, managing resources, and engaging/convening internal and external stakeholders.

 

The position plays a significant role in developing positive and productive strategic relationships with key external and internal stakeholders. This includes being responsible for building strong relationships with community, local and state governments, federal members within their jurisdiction, donors, and other partner organisations to increase Australian Red Cross brand presence, advocate for and deliver on organisation priorities and increase funding.

 

In addition, the Director will proactively work with and support the Local Divisional Advisory Board with the aim to build strong connections with our members, volunteers and supporters.

 

The Director will ensure that they act in accordance with the 7 Fundamental Principles that govern the work of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement. The role is critical in leading and modelling work habits and behaviours that ensure individuals and teams can contribute to new ideas and ways of working constructively.

 

About you

 

As an exceptional leader with extensive and diverse senior leadership experience, you’ll have demonstrated success in inspiring cultural change and a proven track record in developing and maintaining a high-performance culture to support the organisation’s work with clients and communities and achieving impact.

 

You will demonstrate a contemporary approach to stakeholder engagement and have proven experience in working and engaging with local communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistic diverse communities.

 

You’ll also bring:

  • Demonstrated success in inspiring cultural change within a team or organisation
  • Well-developed financial management skills and organisational acumen
  • Ability to work under broad direction with a high degree of autonomy and use initiative on a regular basis to advance and execute strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with external stakeholders such as peak bodies, Government (State and Local), partner organisations and corporates.
  • Proven track record as an approachable and collaborative leader
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to influence and negotiate at a senior organisational level
  • Takes into account external events and trends impacting the organisation and identifies opportunities to influence the external environment
  • Demonstrated ability to make data and evidence driven decisions
  • Extensive and diverse expertise in the application of approaches in dealing with complex challenges and ability to lead and maximise a large and diverse workforce
  • Demonstrated capability to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and compliance frameworks/standards
