About the role

 

Australian Red Cross is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for its Senior Advisor - Safeguarding (International Programs) role. The role is an internal specialist supporting International Programs, particularly partner societies in the Asia Pacific region, to improve practices relating to child and adult safeguarding including the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA). To succeed in the role you will have expertise in implementing DFAT's Safeguarding policies and collaborating and building capacity in a culturally appropriate and sustainable manner.

 

Day to day, you will:

  • Work with partner national societies to identify safeguarding risks including any non-compliance with DFAT and Red Cross Movement Minimum Standards
  • Support partners to implement sustainable and culturally appropriate safeguarding strategies to reduce risks and strengthen capacity
  • Support funder reporting and document key compliance processes against minimum standards

 

What you will bring

 

  • Substantial experience in developing and implementing safeguarding capacity building initiatives within the humanitarian and/or international development sector.
  • Substantial experience in developing and embedding high quality safeguarding training and development programs within the international context.
  • Substantial experience in the management of safeguarding incidents or issues and an ability to facilitate effective and sustainable solutions.
  • Substantial experience working across a broad spectrum of contexts and vulnerable communities.
  • Experience working in the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement will be an asset.
  • This role requires a Working with Children Check or equivalent
