The program 

Humanitech is an initiative of Australian Red Cross, working at the intersection of humanitarian action and technology. In collaboration with partners across sectors, we are developing unique insights into the social implications of frontier technologies, creating or amplifying solutions with the greatest potential for social impact, and influencing so that technology serves humanity by putting the needs of people at the centre.

The Humanitech Research Volunteer supports the Humanitech team with its current research activities and priorities across a variety of projects, analysing qualitative data and preparing summaries of research and related briefs.

The opportunity 

For this role, possessing strong qualitative desktop research skills is essential, as you'll be responsible for investigating and synthesizing a wide range of information and ideas. Working closely with the Humanitech team, you’ll bring your effective verbal and written communication skills to a range of research projects from topic briefs, horizon scans, literature reviews and other desktop projects, and be able to communicate these insights clearly and concisely across diverse formats. 

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.

As a volunteer, you will help to advance Humanitech’s strategic mission to harness technology for community benefit by embedding emerging insights and knowledge and foresight practices into our work. Anticipating emerging trends, your work will help to enhance our adaptive capacity, and foster a resilient, adaptive, and future-focused approach to humanitarian innovation to address evolving community needs.    

 

Application requirements

For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross. 

The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory.  Red Cross can assist you to apply for this check
