About the role

We are on the lookout for a dedicated and detail orientated Legal Administration Assistant to join our Kemps Petersons Legal team in Sydney.  This role is a full-time permanent position. Reporting to the Senior Solicitor, you will assist the team in initiating legal proceedings for our Owners Corporation and commercial clients, ensuring all work is accurate, compliant, and efficient.

Objectives

  • Initial case intake, including opening new files, requesting/ sourcing documents from Client, and drafting confirming letters to clients and Solicitor Demand Letters;
  • Court e-filing of documents, calendaring hearing dates for contested matters;
  • Draft various initiating action documents, motions, petitions and pertinent proposed orders as may be necessary across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Respond to client and court inquiries, communications and/or payout requests from
  • debtors/defendants, review and interpret Owners Statement of Accounts (Strata) and client invoices (Commercial) and calculate debt settlement amounts;
  • Initiative, respond to and maintain written/verbal communication with clients, defendants, internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintain case management of matters within KPIs;
  • Research legal issues as directed by supervising Solicitor;
  • Assist Solicitor in preparing for defended matters for trials; and
  • Assist with any administrative duties where required.

 

About you

  • Ideally you will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in legal document drafting, debt recovery, data entry and administrative processes, but if not, the right attitude and willingness to learn and grow will set you apart from the rest!
  • You’re known for outstanding client service and communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skill is a must for this high-pace, high-volume role
  • You are proficient with MS Suite programs
  • You are willing to expand your knowledge and skills across multiple jurisdictions
  • You can professionally and sensitively deal with clients and third parties.
  • You have an eye for detail.
